Hi and welcome to MarcThatSpot
I initially started this site as a basic Travel Photo Blog because of my love of photography & passion for travelling, and I wanted to share my experiences and view of the world as I see it through the camera lens with family and friends.
However soon afterwards I was getting asked about things like….where do I go to book flights, what camera should I get, can I recommend any travel Apps? etc etc ….and so I decided to add more info pages which resulted in MarcThatSpot basically morphing into more than just a collection of my travel photo blog posts…and hopefully it will continue to grow as I update as well as add more Info and blog posts to the site.
I also want to mention that at this stage I am not one of those nomad Travel Photo Bloggers who are always on the road as I am still a working photographer, and thus am unable to respond to comments on my blog posts that often, and any updates and new blog posts will happen when I have the time or opportunity to do so….however if you sign up then you will be notified of any new posts. You might find it handy in bookmarking some of my “info” pages for easy links to booking flights, or apps etc
So for now MarcThatSpot is for all the Travel Photo Enthusiasts out there … those of you who love travelling and want to capture great images / visual souvenirs of your trip …. so you have lasting memories that can be enjoyed over and over again.
In most cases you do not have the most expensive Cameras with a collection of Lenses and other Pro Photo Equipment, but at the same time you want to take your Photography Skills up a notch, to avoid getting disappointed by photos that didnt turn out as expected for a number of reasons.
One should strive for as high a quality image as possible, no matter what your camera – and that’s why a little advice and tips re. equipment and taking travel photos, can go a long way.
There are many fantastic Professional Travel Photography Blogs and Sites out there with tutorials and equipment reviews showcasing inspiring images – most of these are for people who want become Professional or semi Professional Photographers, and for those who are prepared to invest in pro cameras and multiple lenses. But even if that’s not you, I encourage you to seek out some of those sites and blogs, as you are bound to learn something new and will get inspired by many stunning images.
We can’t all afford to fly into exotic locations at short notice… and experience events like a desert storm approaching a city at dawn etc..and then capture that money shot from the top of the highest building with the most expensive zoom lens …..but that image can inspire you to shoot something like an ants eye view of a scorpion in the desert, or something blowing across a sandy beach etc.
In conclusion, I hope my Visual Diary infects you with the travel bug, so you are motivated to do some travelling of your own, and that my Photography Info / Tips and Travel Advice add to your whole travel experience, making your trip more enjoyable, and that it empowers and inspires you to capture stunning images that will make you relive your adventures over and over again.
More about me …
I’ll grab any opportunity to travel as much as I can, and having an Italian Passport as well as my Canadian one is the cherry on the panettone 🙂
Wishing you all a great trip / buon viaggio
Marc
